Testing

PAC-RACING SPRINGS uses some the most high tech engine valve train test methods available in the field. Our development of spring seat loading data and our proprietary strain gauging methods we have been able to excel with the understanding actual dynamic spring stress. PAC continues to develop new engine test methods and strive to be the best we can at allowing our customers to understand what they can from their valvetrains.

See below spring data charts collected in our dynamic valve train test laboratory. While also below we use other methods for testing (not shown).

PAC Proximity probes---Capture date of specific valve closing events for evaluation of closing velocity, bounce, valve timing shifts, valve opening acceleration and many more custom features can be applied

PAC Full valve motion LASER--- Capture data for the entire motion of the valve for evaluation of loft, area changes, prediction of airflow, timing shifts and many more custom features.

PAC High Speed video---When a picture is worth a thousand words, PAC can instrument and record video of valve spring operation at high speeds. This allows the user to understand visually what exactly is happening in the valvetrain.

Fig. 1 shows a speed sweep of an engine with the data collection speed able to capture all the relative data points needed to evaluate any engine RPM.

Fig. 2 shows the actual valve train event depicted in the prior chart to look at specific effects of spring dynamics. This is an overlay of several engine RPMs.

Figs. 3 Shows in house PAC spring strain gauge capability for specialized applications and dynamic stress location for specific engine components.
